Jill has been creating art for as long as she can remember. Her artistic journey has taken many twists and turns, but one thing has always remained constant throughout her adventures. Jill loves to paint! Everyday she enters her studio and looks forward to painting.

Jill embraced her love of art as a young child.  One of her favorite things to do besides drawing and painting were to hold garage sales at her house during the summer months. The best part about this wasn't the money really, it was that Jill wanted her very own store to display treasures. She would spend hours making that garage a beautiful shop for people to enter (or so she thought!). At some point she even took the sale on the road. She packed up some of her toys and miscellaneous items into a wheel barrel and went around the neighborhood selling her merchandise.
Jill also remembers a summer when her parents brought home a new blue bike. Jill wasn't at all happy about mom and dad's color choice. So, instead of complaining she simply solved the problem on her own by painting it with pink paint. (Much better as you can imagine!)

Jill honed her artistic skills while studying Commercial Graphics Design at Southern Illinois University. She also managed to meet her future husband, Kurt. They have been a creative team ever since. Together, they have put passion and a love for art into their work and home.

Haupt Interiors Ltd. originated when Jill started working for clients on a regular basis. Over the years the company has evolved. Jill started out by faux finishing walls, painting custom murals and making custom window treatments in people's homes. That led to painting the furniture  in the room
as well. Meanwhile, Jill was struggling to find a way to stay home more with her young daughter. She decided to make custom painted items from home and sell them through a showroom at the Chicago Merchandise Mart. When the demand became too difficult to keep up with and the monotony of painting the same thing over and over again was too much, Jill decided to try showing one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture and accessories at Chicago area craft shows. This too became successful, as most shows would sell out all of her items. People wanted to be able to order furniture and accessories. So, Jill decided to choose a select group of products to carry her designs. She most recently produced hand-painted clocks, signs, children's rockers and youth table and chair sets. Producing the pieces herself did not leave her any time to explore her artistic dreams. This brings us to the next twist in Jill's artistic adventure.

Jillian Haupt & Co. was formed in 2004 when Jill chose to investigate the licensing of her artwork. Jill is open to the world of opportunities that she could pursue as an artist teamed up with expert manufacturers. Jill is bursting at the seams with a notebook full of design ideas that she has been waiting to explore. Jill will be unveiling her first collection of designs for the licensing community at the SURTEX show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City in the Spring of 2005. Jill looks forward to this next phase in her artistic journey.
